Jamie McPetrie succeeds Wes Schollenberg, building upon region’s momentum and legacy

Winnipeg, Manitoba – Avison Young today announces Jamie McPetrie as the new Principal and Managing Director (“MD”) in Winnipeg – succeeding Wes Schollenberg to build upon the team’s momentum, legacy, and strategic growth. Partnering with McPetrie in this next chapter for the Winnipeg office are Steven Paulus and Paul Douglas.

Effective July 1, McPetrie leads the firm’s Winnipeg affiliate office as MD, although he has been a part of Avison Young since 2004. As a well-rounded expert, McPetrie initially joined the firm to focus on the industrial sector before expanding his client base to include retail and office. McPetrie’s multi-disciplined knowledge base and expansive network have led him to close some of the most noteworthy transactions in the marketplace for a number of Canada’s largest institutional landlords as well as local and national investors.

As MD, McPetrie will focus on revenue growth, with an emphasis on team building and career development. “Adding value to clients and helping them navigate real estate challenges and opportunities are core to my beliefs – and, as MD, I want to coach and mentor the team to help them find their own unique ways to guide their clients,” said McPetrie. “I thank Wes for his unwavering commitment to us over the years and I plan to continue building on the momentum we’ve seen in Winnipeg by prioritizing growth and talent retention and attraction because it’s an exciting time to be a part of Avison Young.”

Paulus started with Avison Young in 2007, and brings over 17 years of sales and leasing experience, with specialty in real estate financial strategy. He is one of the few designated accountants in the commercial real estate community. As Principal, Paulus will work closely with McPetrie and Douglas to grow the firm, and will concentrate on strategic oversight and operational execution, while continuing to be active in assisting clients achieve their goals with industrial, retail, and investment properties.

As Principal, Douglas will focus primarily on business development and human resources, with over a decade of experience managing and operating a number of successful businesses in Winnipeg. He will also continue to focus on retail leasing and sales, as well as investment sales and land development. Having joined Avison Young in 2020, Douglas lives by the philosophy of prioritizing the success of his clients, colleagues, and team, which he will carry into his new role as Principal.

After 18 years as Principal and MD, Schollenberg will remain an integral part of the Avison Young team as Senior Vice-President. "When I first joined Avison Young, I looked for people who shared my ethics, integrity, and loyalty. Those same characteristics continue to be important to me and I'm proud to pass the torch to a team that embodies those same values,” said Schollenberg.
