Born in Nova Scotia, Brandon Copeland has lived in Newfoundland and Labrador since 2007, having moved to St. John’s to pursue his post-secondary education at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Graduating in 2012, Brandon secured a Bachelor of Business Administration as well as a Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Political Science. Recognizing the heavily-regulated nature of real estate, Brandon entered the field feeling that he could utilize the skills from both of his degrees.

Brandon began his real estate career with Future Group of Companies in 2012. Future Group was a multi-faceted real estate construction company including the largest single-family housing developer in the province. Brandon oversaw the company’s land portfolio and was responsible for managing, budgeting, and seeking approvals for all of the company’s land development projects. In 2017 Brandon decided to pursue an entrepreneurial vision and started Urban East – his own real estate consulting company which drew on his experiences in the development space. Through Urban East Brandon consulted and joined project teams for initiatives that had a community or urban impact with clients in the areas of hospitality, heritage preservation and innovation ecosystem hubs. Urban East also provided Brandon the opportunity to begin to construct his own real estate portfolio, something he continues to pursue today.

In 2019 Brandon joined Martek Morgan Finch, Newfoundland’s largest third-party property management company, as an asset manager. It was through Martek that Brandon was encouraged to pursue his real estate license, which he attained in 2020. Over the next several years Brandon became responsible for leasing much of Martek’s managed portfolio while learning an immense amount from one of the province’s most seasoned real estate sales and management teams. From 2020 to 2024 Brandon worked with the team to oversee over $50M in deal value between property sales and leases.

Brandon made the decision in the Summer of 2024 to join the team at Avison Young, where he will help open and act as Broker for the company’s Newfoundland office. Brandon lives in the St. John’s suburb of Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s with his wife Valerie and two-year-old daughter Addison. He currently sits on the board of BOMA NL and has previously sat on the board of the Tuckamore Chamber Music Festival as well as the Board of Trade Ambassador program. When not working or spending time with his family Brandon is an avid (but poor) golfer and an overly-obsessed soccer fan.
